Who bills you for electricity in Bulacan

Manila Electric Company, Meralco on your bill.

Republic Act 9209 sets out Meralco’s franchise area and lists the Bulacan municipalities in it by name. All five towns on this page are in that list: Baliuag, Malolos, Meycauayan, Plaridel and San Jose del Monte.

This is the one area we work in where the answer is simple, and it is worth saying plainly because it is not true anywhere else on this site. Elsewhere several companies operate across one province, they publish very different things, and some publish nothing at all.

What Meralco publishes on net metering

A net metering FAQ that answers the questions people actually arrive with. You may apply if the system is up to 100 kW, 100 kWp for solar, if the account is in the same name as the applicant, and if the account is in good credit standing with nothing outstanding at the time of applying.

It also answers the question our own pages raise: whether you need net metering at all if you only want to run the house off your panels and export nothing. The answer is no, and Meralco still asks to be told, for electrical safety and so the system performs.

How much sun Bulacan actually gets

5.09 peak sun hours a day at Malolos. It comes from the Global Solar Atlas at one set of coordinates, and the sentence says you can open it yourself because you can: the atlas at that point.

It is worth knowing and it is not worth choosing on. Across the five areas this site works in the whole spread is about 4 percent, so sunshine is not what separates one province from another. What separates them is your roof, your bill and who your utility is.

PEAK SUN HOURS A DAY Pampanga, at San Fernando 5.23 Bulacan, at Malolos 5.09 Bataan, at Balanga 5.27 Tarlac, at Tarlac City 5.31 Olongapo, at Olongapo 5.11 0246
Peak sun hours a day at each of the five points this site works in, drawn from zero rather than from the smallest figure, which is why they look alike. They are alike: the whole spread is about 4 percent. Bulacan is the row picked out, in bold and in amber.
